Won't You Be My Neighbor?

A brief interruption of library love to show off a friend's home that just went up for sale.
My dear sweet friend and neighbor has put her house up for sale. And while I do not want to see her move, I want to see her happy. The house is sensational. Once-in-a-lifetime spectacular. Dearest Nester, please come move down the street from me!

Chandeliers in almost every room.

Fireplaces in almost every room as well. This is the entrance foyer. Apologies for my camera. Now you know why I don't take inside shots.

Classically detailed ceilings.

Windows with wonderful views in the dining room.

I wasn't kidding about the fireplaces. Each one has its own character.

I love the sunny eat-in-kitchen. Some fun times around this table with wine and pizza, let me tell you.

Hardwood floors, lots of cabinet space and did I mention the windows with views?

A divine mix of classic and modern.

The main hallway. Real hardwood floors, doors and moulding.

Upstairs is my fave. The ceilings = swooning.

And rooms with fabulous views.

Yes, that would be your iron fence and you can enjoy watching bikers, joggers and untold numbers of children parading past your home. I'll be by on Saturday mornings with our dog, waving and asking you to join me for a walk on the greenway, which is just down the street.

How awesome would this be as an office? Would you get any work done? Me neither.

This is a little guest bedroom tucked away. I counted four bedrooms and two baths - my camera just doesn't take decent photos inside - so I don't have a photo of the master bedroom (it has a fireplace, ladies!). But you can find more photos here.

Her daughter's bedroom is magical - and the domed ceiling - another room you will hate to leave. Wake me next year.
Outside is equally enjoyable. Set on park-like grounds, this home is a wonderful sanctuary of nature while still being a short walk to the elementary school and downtown.

Mature trees and shrubs provide scenic landscaping with plenty of room for the family to run around. Directly behind the home is glorious wooded acres of undeveloped property - all of the neighborhood children love to explore these woods as if they've embarked on a real trip to Narnia. You won't see them 'til dinner.

There's plenty of space for relaxing and reading a book or daydreaming with your loved ones.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...would you be mine...could you be mine?
Did I mention you are one block from the award-winning elementary school and new town baseball fields, and three blocks from downtown and the library?

Best of all, you are four houses from me. And our fire-pit. And the most awesome book-club on the planet. And don't even get me started on our library with our superhero librarians

At the risk of making you think of Fred Rogers all ding-dong-day, won't you please, won't you please, please won't you be my neighbor?

Thank you, Shelly, for letting me loose in and around your home with my camera that has Hello Kitty stickers on it. Yep, you really should want to live by me.

xoxo Michele

Oh! That is a beautiful home! And a beautiful neighborhood! We have several friends and a few family members in your area already --- were it not for our pesky little jobs, we'd move in a heartbeat. :)

Very sweet of you to help your neighbor market her home! I'm sure it will sell quickly!

I do want to live by you in this charming house. Alas, we're still tied for six more years to Chicago winters and our jobs. Maybe then...

Please spill your guts on the photo effect you used to get the stained-glass effect on the leaves. It is gorgeous!

The house is lovely! And your neighborhood is beautiful. Since I live in Florida, I don't think I'll be moving down the street from you.:) Although we sometimes dream of moving to North Carolina, we also dream of building a log cabin if we ever do make it there. I hope you end up with a great new neighbor!

Shhh! This is supposed to remain a well-kept secret until we figure out a way to make it ours. :)

Swoon is an understatement. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the character of the home. I can't stand cookie-cutter McMansions. This home is surely a dream and I wonder who will be lucky enough to live in it and lucky enough to be your neighbor? I'm hoping her realtor links up to your post...great advertisement!!! You've captured the home's essence magically!!!

for me, a home IS like a book that tells the story of now, and the story of family!
